Can Medicated Shampoo Help With Hair Loss?

shampoo hair lossWhen I was in college I got this bright idea that horse shampoo would stimulate hair growth. I rushed out to the local grocery store and bought a bottle and used the shampoo for a few months hoping for longer healthier hair. To this day, I cannot remember if it was really effective. However, according to information from dermatologists, the scalp actually contributes a lot to hair loss and hair thinning.

If your scalp flakes (i.e. dandruff), it might inhibit proper hair growth. Luckily, there are great shampoos on the market that combat the problem of dandruff, and therefore could really make a difference on your hair growth. Additionally, there are also medicated shampoos on the market today. Many of these shampoos contain an ingredient called ketaconazole that decrease inflammation on the scalp and also minimizes dandruff.

If you think that you may be losing hair from dandruff, the best thing to do would be to consult with a dermatologist. They can advise you on the best prescription shampoo to eliminate problems that are getting in the way of hair growth. It is always wise to talk with an expert rather than trying home remedies that may further inhibit hair growth rather than correct the problem.
